It’s coming. July 13th. One of the most important and popular entertainment events of the year is here. Not only in Spain, La Velada del Año is making its way through Twitch to reach the whole world, and boy, is it coming.
But before we tell you everything you need to know about La Velada del Año IV, this year’s edition 2024, let’s put a bit of context for those of you who have just crawled out of a cave and are just finding out that there are people you know from the internet who are getting hit. But what is this?
La Velada del Año
It is not a completely sporting event, nor is it an event between streamers chatting. La Velada del año was born in 2021 from the tireless and restless mind of Spanish streamer Ibai Llanos.
It is a night of amateur boxing, although with each edition that passes, the preparation is getting better and better. Content creators, streamers and celebrities come together in the ring.
With each edition the location of the event changes, due to the large demand, the venues have grown in size and importance. The same has happened with its streaming on Twitch, which reaches new heights with each edition.
Previous editions of La Velada del Año
In its first edition, in 2021, Ibai brought together 6 well-known content creators, such as Mr. Jagger, and featured performances by Blon, Rojuu and Piezas. Musical performances take place between the bouts and every year there are more bouts, with more guest artists performing more well-known songs.
The event is growing, and proof of this was the leap it took in its second edition, 2022, where more streamers entered the ring in addition to the well-known singer David Bustamente. Artists such as Bizarrap, Queveo or Duki livened up the night even more. This second edition opened the door to the general public, not just well-known faces, so it was held in Badalona’s Olympic Pavilion, with a capacity of just over 12,000 people.
The 2023 edition broke all records. Starting with the venue, the Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid, home of Atlético de Madrid, which was filled with more than 68,000 people. In addition, the highest peak audience on Twitch almost reached three and a half million viewers.
Tickets sold out in an hour, there was a battle between female streamers, plus a lot of commotion due to three cancellations, one of them a very loud one by the American streamer Amouranth, with only four days to go before the event.
Estopa, María Becerra, Rosario Flores, Duki, Quevedo, Ozuna, Lola Índigo are some of the names that were seen at the 2023 Soirée of the Year, either performing several songs or appearing just to introduce some of the boxers.
La Velada del Año IV
It is undeniable, whether you like boxing or not, that this event is a spectacle. Some people think it’s not real boxing and criticise it, while others see it as a perfect advertisement to raise awareness of the sport among young people.
Be that as it may, and whatever your opinion, what you can’t deny is that it’s a party that never stops growing. For example, this year’s edition of the ‘Velada del Año IV’, which will be held at the new Santiago Bernabéu, with a capacity for almost 85,000 people, on 13 July.
In addition to the classic bouts, there will be a King of the Ring, a new concept for 2024. In addition, the fight between Viruzz and Shelao will be the first in which no headgear will be used. Just gloves and fight.
The list with the names of the artists that will perform during the Soiree of the Year IV is growing; Paulo Londra, Anuel, Julietas Venegas, Bizarrap, David Bisbal, Nicki Jam and some last minute surprises. The line-up of singers could be the envy of any festival. That’s how big this event is.

New rules of the Velada del Año IV
- This year there will be giant screens, where the boxers will be able to see whether they are winning or losing.
- On Thursdays this year there will be five instead of three.
- If the bout ends in a draw, the boxers will be able to choose whether to end it as a draw, in which case they will both lose, or to box an extra three-minute round.
